Weekly acupuncture sessions and a serious love for Food Network sprouted a health and wellness passion for me during my years at UMASS Dartmouth. A determination to fight off the evil "freshman fifteen" also helped. I started recording my experiments in the kitchen here on Buff Chickpea, and eventually started an online bakery business with a close friend and philosophy buff. Our goal was to deliver something sweet to body and soul. And even though there's nothing quite like working alongside your best friend, my heart was really not into all that sugar and butter. You'll notice A LOT of splurge worthy recipes on my site, mostly from my bakery days, and from the start of this blog (when I was trying to lure you in with sweet treats), but these days I stick to a whole foods, vegetarian diet. Lots of greens, whole grains, and superfoods, and the occasional addition of organic eggs and dairy. I hope you enjoy my take on the food pyramid, and find some inspiration to take back into your own kitchen! xx
I've also written a lot of articles for an amazing organic meal delivery company, Sakara Life. The company is based in New York, and is 100% female-owned and operated. You can check out my recipes and health tips on their blog here.

and exclaim or murmur or think at some point,
if this isn't nice, I don't know what is."
